Also known as the White City, the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois was a seminal event in both the professions of architecture and urban design, and across the whole spectrum of American life. Showcasing a rational, elegant city against the backdrop of industrial Chicago, the 1893 World's Fair left an indelible mark on the profession.
