Basic Data
Also known as the Capitoline Hill (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitoline_Hill), the Piazza del Campidoglio (satellite image (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=rome,+italy&ll=41.893269,12.482636&spn=0.003657,0.007522&t=k&hl=en)) was reorganized by Michelangelo. Capitoline Hill was historically the center of religion of Imperial Rome, being one of the seven hills of Rome.
Michelangelo's reconfiguration of the Capitoline Hill to what is now known as Piazza del Campidoglio, altered the orientation from the Forum to the Papal hill was yet another step in the transformation from Imperial to Papal Rome.
