    Basic Data

    Located on the historic campus of the Illinois Institute of Technology, the McCormick Tribune Campus Center is a radical departure from the Van_der_Rohe,_Mies designed campus. Nestled underneath the elevated train on the edge of campus, the Center is a link between the old Mies designed campus and the newer (1970's) student housing on the other side of the tracks. The striking sound tube surrounding the El tracks acts as a baffle, muffling the sound of passing trains over the center.
